Vizela vs Sporting CP: League Match Preview

Sporting Lisbon looks to end their disappointing season positively as they face Vizela on Friday. Regardless of the final results, Sporting Lisbon secures fourth place in the Primeira Liga. Vizela, currently 11th, has a chance to climb in the standings with a victory. Vizela improved from their 14th-place finish last season and currently sits on 40 points. They can secure 12th place, just a point behind Rio Ave, or even rise higher with a positive result. However, Vizela has struggled recently, going winless in their last six matches. Sporting Lisbon, on the other hand, has been strong on their away matches, winning nine out of 16 games. They previously defeated Vizela 2-1 this season.

Vizela’s Form:
In their previous three matches, Vizela suffered a 3-0 loss against Vitoria de Guimaraes and managed a 0-0 draw with Famalicao, before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat against Maritimo. Tulipa’s men have only achieved one victory at home in their last six Liga Portugal matches at the Estadio do Futebol Clube de Vizela. Additionally, they have drawn twice and lost three times in these six encounters, scoring five goals while conceding ten.

Sporting CP’s Form:
Sporting CP secured seven points from their last nine available, with convincing wins of 0-4 against Pacos de Ferreira and 2-1 against Maritimo. However, in their most recent match, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Benfica. The Lions have been formidable on their recent travels in the Liga Portugal, winning five out of six matches and scoring 14 goals while conceding five. They also have one draw but remain undefeated.

Prediction:
FC Vizela’s recent form has been disappointing, as they suffered a defeat against CS Marítimo in stoppage time, extending their winless streak to six matches. With only two points earned during this period, they will aim to conclude the season on a positive note.

Sporting CP’s aspirations of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season were dashed when they conceded a late equalizer, preventing them from securing the third position.

Considering that Vizela is up against a perennial title contender and that Sporting CP has nothing but pride to play for, a draw would not be an unexpected outcome and could be viewed as a satisfactory result for FC Vizela.
